Gov Malloy Signs Condo Bill To Certify Property Managers, Preventing Associations From Blocking Religious Symbols On Doors

Daniel P. Mallory, Governor of Connecticut, has signed bill 5536. This bill requires condo owners to allow small religious signs on condo owners’ doors, an issue which was brought up when one condo association fined a Jewish woman for placing a small Mezuzah on her door, violating the rules at the time. Bill 5536 also mandates new educational requirements and background checks for condo property managers, which will assure a high standard of conduct in their work. This legislation was fought for by the Connecticut Condo Owners Coalition and had little opposition.
